How the NBA Fantasy Projections Work

Each team's projected finish is its points so far plus the best lineup it can start on every night left in the week.

How It Works

Per game: ESPN's projected stat line for each player, scored by this league's rules (points 1, rebounds 1.2, assists 1.5, blocks and steals 3, turnovers -1).

Each night: Yahoo lineups change daily, so we seat the highest-scoring players who have a game into the ten active slots, using the real NBA schedule and each player's eligible positions. A player stays out until ESPN's expected return date.

Start/Sit: the same lineup for tonight, moving as few players as it can. Once a game tips, its players are locked where they are.

Power Rankings: the rest of the season played out 20,000 times against the real pairings, with the league's own playoff bracket.

Keep in Mind

Projections are season averages, so they miss a hot streak or a new role. Return dates are estimates. The spread behind the win chances is a round figure until this league has finished weeks to measure it against.

When It Updates

Four times a day, around 5:30 and 11:30 AM and PM Eastern. Scores on the matchups page refresh every two minutes during games.
