Every game gets a page of its own: our call next to the sportsbook's, each offense lined up against the other team's defense, the players to watch and recent form.
How it works
- The call: the same prediction as the predictions page (favorite, spread, win chance, projected score) beside the book's line and ESPN FPI's win chance. After the game, it shows the call we saved before kickoff.
- Unit vs unit: each offense against the other team's defense, stat by stat, with national ranks (1st is best). The longer bar has the edge, and the biggest gap on each side is spelled out.
- Players to watch: the quarterback, the busiest running back and the two busiest receivers, with how efficient each has been.
- Recent form: the last four games, and how each finished against our pregame line.
- Win probability: once a game starts, ESPN's live win chance, charted play by play.
- Watch score: how worth watching it should be, from the watch guide.
Keep in mind
Season stats are thin early in the year. A lean is a disagreement with the book, not a tip. College previews cover only games between two FBS teams.
When it updates
Four times a day, around 5:30 and 11:30 AM and PM Eastern, for last week's games, this week's, and next week's once they have a line.
For the curious
College stats come from CollegeFootballData, NFL stats from nflverse's free play-by-play data. For what they mean, see the team stats explainer. The live chart is ESPN's own model, read from ESPN about once a minute during the game; our pregame number stays in The call.
